A Goatherd,

The story begins in the Ethiopian highlands, where a goatherd named Kaldi noticed his flock dancing with unusual energy after grazing on bright red berries. He brought the berries to a local monastery — and the world has never slept the same since.

By the 15th century, Sufi monks in Yemen were brewing coffee to sustain their nighttime prayers. The drink soon spread through the coffeehouses of Constantinople and Cairo — called "Schools of the Wise" — changing the social fabric of civilization.
